Make energy choices a voteable issue in Colorado

Make energy choices a voteable issue in Colorado
The Issue
Living in Colorado is a daily challenge due to the ever-increasing cost of living. Many of us find it difficult to make ends meet, and the proposed state legislation to prevent and outlaw the use of natural gas by enforcing specific requirements on furnaces and water heaters threatens to make it even worse. These proposed changes could lead to severe consequences on our personal finances and livelihood, not to mention the stability of our state's electrical grid.
Electricity bills are a significant household expense, especially during Colorado's harsh winters. By moving away from natural gas, many households will face an increase in energy costs that could push their finances over the edge. Colorado has a high cost of living, with residents already facing housing affordability issues and increasing expenses in virtually all sectors. Making choices about the type of energy we use should not be dictated without our consent.
Furthermore, our electrical grid is currently not equipped to handle the increased demand that will result from a shift away from natural gas. The changes proposed without a vote could create unprecedented strain on our grid, potentially leading to more frequent blackouts and skyrocketing electricity prices, similar to what has been experienced in other states.
We believe these matters should be placed in the hands of voters. Energy choices directly impact all residents, and it’s imperative that citizens have a say in these decisions. Including such measures as voteable issues allows for a democratic approach, giving us the opportunity to consider the long-term implications of such regulations on our personal lives and the broader community.
Signing this petition is a call for the Colorado state legislature to ensure that residents have the opportunity to vote on these critical issues. Let's protect our right to make informed decisions about our energy sources and prevent unnecessary financial burdens. Please sign the petition today to make energy choices a voteable issue in Colorado.
