My cat got sick on saturday died monday morning It was so quick I had no time to react but to try and find an emergency clinic. That did not work out well.. He had to die at home because I did not have the cost to go into a walk in emergency clinic to have him put to sleep so he did not have to suffer. I called vets today (monday) and by the time I got a hold of one, he had already passed away. This could have been avoided. I dealt with, what many families deal with every day in NYS. Not enough money to help a pet with an emergency medical cost.  ASPCA is great, the Hudson Valley Aminal rescue and sanctuary is also great, but we need something for emergencies. I propose an idea to where someone (meeting income guidelines of course) go into any emergency vet, after all the cost are through, They sign a contract with the vet (or other company or assitance program involved) for a payment agreement on a sliding scale with their income.  The pet owner pays a deposit  of (say its 300 dollars and they pay a deposit of 100 dollars) a percentage based on their income. The state wont have to pay anything, and contracts will be signed so the vet or other company has something in writing as far as them getting the rest of their money. 

There is the carecredit program, but a lot of low income families do not have the credit to get this credit card.  There's also pet insurance which is very high in premiums. I want to come up with a alternative way for those who are stuck in the middle! I am will to negotiate any idea you may have. This is important to me because this was a true lost to my family, I don't want another family to go through the same thing.
