Make East Ham High Street the pride of East Ham

Make East Ham High Street the pride of East Ham
The Issue
Dear Mayor Rokhsana Fiaz,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing on behalf of the residents in the area surrounding East Ham High Street, who have expressed growing concerns about the escalating rates of anti-social behaviour, criminal activities, and instances of violence or threats of violence on our high street.
Specifically, there have been reports of gangs outside betting shops dealing drugs and intimidating members of the public with violence or threats of violence. This behaviour is not only distressing for those directly affected but also creates an atmosphere of fear and unease in the neighbourhood.
In addition to these concerns, the state of East Ham High Street has become increasingly unwelcoming due to the amount of litter present. The cleanliness of our street is a reflection of our community, and the current state is not only disgusting but also detrimental to the businesses operating in the area. Many businesses are suffering as a result of both the anti-social behaviour and the litter problem.
The safety and well-being of our residents are paramount, and it is distressing to see the peace and harmony of our neighbourhood being disrupted by such activities. These issues not only pose a threat to the physical safety of our residents but also have a detrimental impact on the mental health and overall quality of life within our community.
We understand that the council has a responsibility to ensure the safety and security of its residents, and we are keen to know what actions are being taken to combat anti-social behaviour , litter, crime and criminal elements on East Ham High Street. We believe that a proactive approach towards these issues will significantly help in deterring such activities and restoring peace in our neighbourhood.
Furthermore, we would like to know what measures are being implemented to ensure that East Ham High Street remains accessible to all members of the community, including people with disabilities and children. It is essential that everyone feels safe and welcome in our neighbourhood, regardless of their age, gender, sexual preference or background.
We look forward to hearing about the strategies and initiatives that the council is planning to implement in response to these concerns. We are hopeful that with your leadership and the council's dedicated efforts, we can overcome these challenges and continue to build a safe, inclusive, and vibrant community.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Yours sincerely,
Friends of East Ham High Street
