We need more queer representation in animation and media in general. Drakepad has so much chemistry in the show, so it only makes sense for them to be canon.  Launchpad and Drake Mallard are a unique case, seeing as they live and raise Gosalyn together. There is even an episode in the original show where Launchpad folds Gos's laundry.  In another, Drake specifically refers to Launchpad as his partner.

The fans of Darkwing Duck want to see them grow together.  Shipping is a major part of fandom culture, and would bring in many viewers. After the numerous queerbaiting stunts in 2026, this would be a refreshing thing to see, and it would help young people feel seen and belong in today's shows. Additionally, most people watch and enjoy the show for Launchpad and Drake's relationship, as well as the way they interact and seemingly rear Gos together.

In the episode U.F. Foe, of the original Darkwing Duck series, Launchpad, Drake and Gosalyn are going on a family camping trip. On the way to the campsite, Drake and LP bicker and fight like a married couple. Later in the episode, Launchpad introduces Drake to his fiancée, an alien he met as a kid, and Drake spends the bulk of the episode acting bitter and  irritable until he and Gosalyn are able to convince LP to come back home. Gosalyn's tactic seems more based on her connection to Launchpad as a positive adult figure in her life, seeing as she cries and tells him he can't be replaced. He holds her and, like in most episodes, comforts her the way a dad would.

Exploring the famillial dynamics of Darkwing duck through the lens of Drakepad canon would not only make the show more interesting, but also provide queer representation that is integral to today's cultural landscape.
