Outside of the Oxford Estates/Trillium neighborhoods, you’ll find a dangerously steep drop on the sidewalk pathway. The drop tends to override most bikes breaking system and makes it nearly impossible for bikers to not go at extreme speeds when the brakes are released. 

But how does this affect the community? We’ve heard from multiple teens that it’s “safer to take the road” because of the drop. As, for some, it has launched people off their bike seats and into nearby trees or mud piles that have formed at the base of the hill after rain. 

What can be changed? With a small community of teens we’ve come up with two ideas. 

1) change the pathway of the sidewalk to avoid the drop entirely, as it is a hike to get up and a drop to get down.

2) Add a “Steep drop” sign and streetlights to help civilians see the possible mud, debris, and animals on the pathway. 

It is no where near safe to have our community biking on a busy road. Sign now to help make a change and keep bikers safe.
