Hello everyone! I am thrilled and relieved to know that a number of people, as well as the Internet Archive itself, are working diligently to preserve some key pieces of content from the DPReview site for continued reference and posterity.
While this is very welcome news, its unintended consequence is a feeling of relief that decreases the sense of urgency/pressure for more to be done to save the site itself.
For me, DPReview goes beyond its content and extends firmly into its community, its functionality, and its ongoing updates. That is core to what I hope we can still preserve.
Enter Peter Green, member of DPReview since 2014 and maker of Internet things (republic.com, meetingpulse.net, etc). He has generously volunteered to try and rebuild the site with a simple input from you. So here is where I ask for your help again.
IF YOU ARE A DPREVIEW MEMBER:
- Request your DPReview data here (you have until April 6, 2023 before access will be revoked)
- Fill out this brief form and Peter will use it to get in touch with you about your DPReview info and how we can use it to repopulate a new site build
I don't expect Amazon to respond to public pressure or reverse its decision to disappear the site sometime after April 10th, but my hope is that we can create our own version to keep the community alive, active and available for all of us to enjoy.
Please share the info above far and wide so we can generate as much data as possible for this potential rebuild and I thank you again for your continued support.
Best,
Ali
