We, the undersigned, call upon your esteemed offices to seize a historic opportunity. In 2022, the U.S. Senate passed a bill to end the biannual ritual of changing clocks, known as the Sunshine Protection Act, leaving the decision of permanent daylight saving time (DST) in the hands of individual states.

Florida, the Sunshine State, stands at a crossroads. With unprecedented organization and unity, we propose a bill to Congress ensuring that this April marks our final adjustment forward of the clocks. Our goal is to enjoy longer daylight hours in the evenings, particularly during the shorter days of the year.

This change will not only align with Florida’s 2018 legislature decision but also resonate with our identity as a state blessed with abundant sunshine. It will enhance the well-being of our citizens, support our robust tourism industry, and potentially reduce energy consumption.
