Our Power - Clean Energy and Self-Reliance on the South Fork of Long Island

The Issue

New York State and East Hampton and Southampton Towns have formally adopted very aggressive renewable power goals to reduce our local and state global warming emissions.  However, the goals they have adopted do not address creating local self-sufficient energy systems that would keep the South Forks critical services such as emergency communications, EMT, first responders, fire, police, heath care, food and shelters up and running when the grid goes down in emergencies.  This petition asks them to adopt policies and take actions that specifically advance local Distributed Energy Resources called nanogrids and microgrids that can stay running when vulnerable power lines fail, and which provide local clean and green energy, energy efficiency as well as local investments and jobs.
