Chemical castration is currently legal in some variety in 9 U.S. states and in a few other countries. Chemical castration is often tied to physical castration, but the process is much simpler and reversible. The patient undergoes injections with a chemical that will reduce their sex drive and testosterone levels.

For a convicted sex offender, particularly one attracted to children, they feel as though they can't control their urges. In fact, pedophilia (the attraction to prepubescent children) and hebephilia (the attraction to pubescent children) are considered paraphilias, which could be categorized as a mental disease. They are seeking help from something they wish they didn't feel.

The legal system has spent decades debating the legality and ethicality of the practice, but overall, in cases where it has been used, there have been lower recidivism rates and many offenders feel free to express themselves without these urges.

I simply ask that offenders can be given the option of going through chemical castration, only voluntarily, to reduce the rates of children and teens who are treated like a sex toy for these men and help them to feel human again.
