The Issue

Bowne Road is about to become a speeding shortcut, and residents are asking the Township of Ocean to act before someone gets hurt.

The new Route 66 / Asbury Avenue roundabout is opening soon. Once it does, drivers looking to bypass the circle will cut through Bowne Road — and traffic patterns on our street will change drastically. Without action now, our quiet residential street risks becoming a high-speed cut-through.

Bowne Road is a neighborhood street. Kids play here. Families walk dogs, push strollers, and back out of driveways every day. Speeding traffic puts all of them at risk.

We are asking the Township of Ocean Council and Police Department to:

1. Permanently lower the Bowne Road speed limit to 25 MPH.
2. Conduct a formal traffic speed and volume study to document the problem.
3. Increase local police enforcement and install digital radar speed-feedback signs.

These are common-sense, proven measures that keep residential streets safe. Acting now — before the roundabout opens — is far easier than reacting after speeding becomes the norm and a serious accident occurs.

Please sign and share this petition with your Bowne Road neighbors. Every signature strengthens the case we bring to the Town Council. Together we can keep our street safe for our kids, our pets, and our families.

Thank you for standing with us.
