Make blocking websites less strict (Unblock Websites)

The Issue

I am a student in Loudoun County, faced with the reality of an overly restrictive internet blocking policy in our schools. This policy is hindering our ability to access useful and educational content on the web. Whilst the aim of keeping students safe online is unquestionable, having an overtly strict approach towards website filtering can potentially restrict learning and hinder our development as tech-savvy students.

Recent studies show that the effective use of digital learning tools contributes to improved student achievement by approximately 16% (Education Endowment Foundation, 2019). Stricter internet restrictions mean fewer resources for students, compelling us to the edge of this gap.

In the interest of an enriched and flexible learning experience, this petition requests Loudoun County to review and reconsider its current website blocking policy, making it less stringent. We understand the necessity of regulations in cupping cyber dangers, but we also believe in achieving this without stunting the educational growth of the students. Sign this petition to support us in paving the path for a more balanced and open internet policy.
