Cities in India are becoming more and more cycle friendly again not just because one can skip traffic but also for its health benefits. Thane Municipal Corporation's initiative of 'rent a cycle' (for just Rs. 10) goes on to prove, that commuting on bicycles has benefits for all. Needless to say even the environment. More people would use cycles instead of waiting for autos to get to work or just in general.

At a time when climate change is a reality and is upon us. WE need to start taking small steps in the right direction. And we are making that effort. The 39 KM cycling track thats been planned in Mumbai is also a proof of that. Then why is ferrying bicycles in the luggage compartment so expensive? and why is getting that ticket such a tedious job? After getting a ticket for self, one needs to go to the T.T office to get a receipt.

The luggage ticket is as per weight. And even though cycles usually weigh around 15kgs, they are charged according to 40! After looking deep in the rule books, they also later say that ticket can cost as per dimensions as well. Something that is not printed on the ticket, so one wouldn't know. We understand cycle ferrying is treated as a luggage but we are looking at the best mode of transport here.
