It’s a shock to see that within a week, this petition has gone from 300 to over 4000 signatures. I should let everyone know that I have been doing a little investigating into Backpage’s continued existence. As I mentioned in the petition’s description, police have used Backpage to catch predators and others committing crimes on the site. Now, I am trying to learn how successful these operations are, and estimate how many children are suffering next to that. Catching the predators takes out the sole issue that victimizes them, but is the site too plagued, or are the operations so successful that it could be solving the issue? We all care about the children and catching these sick people, so we have to do what helps the most and is in the best interest of their safety. I will report back with what I’ve found on the situation.
