Hi friends,
The federal election has now been officially called for 3 May 2025—which means we have less than 5 weeks to make automated insulin delivery (AID) a talking point in every electorate across Australia.
Access to AID is not a luxury—it’s the standard of care for people living with type 1 diabetes. It improves health, reduces complications, and gives people and families peace of mind.
Yet far too many Australians are still locked out of this life-changing technology due to cost.
Funding AID is a cost-effective use of our limited health resources. Investing in this technology now can support people struggling through the cost-of-living crisis, while also reducing long-term health system costs. That’s why countries like England, Germany, Wales, New Zealand, Norway, Belgium and MANY more have already implemented access pathways to AID—it makes both clinical and economic sense.
Thanks to your collective voice access to AID is on the Government's radar. But last week’s federal budget came and went—without investment in standard type 1 diabetes care.
With the federal election just weeks away, we have an incredible opportunity to change the conversation. Together, we can show our leaders that Australians with type 1 diabetes deserve better. We deserve fairness. We deserve access. And we deserve action.
Your voice could be the one that tips the balance!
