I am an ordinary person, angered by the heart-wrenching sight of animal cruelty on our streets almost every day of the week. The pain inflicted on these innocent creatures feels satanic, an evil we must eradicate from our society. This isn't just about protecting animals; it's about the values we instill in our children, our family, and our peers. Everyone has a right to feel safe and respected in their community.

Unfortunately, in many jurisdictions, animal abuse is not treated as a serious crime that warrants felony charges. This lack of severe legal consequences fosters an environment where such horrific acts can continue unabated, poisoning the essence of our community with fear and disregard for life.

Statistically, in the U.S., only 31 out of 50 states deem intentional cruelty to animals a felony, according to the Animal Legal Defense Fund. Without federal legislation to standardize these laws, our fight against animal cruelty remains fragmented and inadequate.
