Dear Supervisor Mandelman,

I am a key volunteer for one of Animal Care and Control’s rescue partners, Give Me Shelter Cat Rescue, and a former ACC volunteer.  

I strongly support the concerns Bill Hamilton is presenting to you.  

It is very disappointing to see our city shelter abdicate more and more responsibilities to the untrained public sector, when they are the ones providing ACC with salaries, funds for animal care and a spacious state-of-the-art new building. ACC leadership used to be much more reasonable in its ways and efforts to help as many animals as possible.

Following the latest trends, when they are not necessary and are destroying effective, humane programs already in place, is a poor choice for the homeless animal populations of San Francisco.

It’s time to revert to policies that reflect ACC’s Mission Statement, before even more damage is done.
