The Issue

I started noticing these little Amazon charges hitting our bank account over and over again. We have notifications turned on for every transaction, even if it is only $1, so I kept seeing charges for $15, $5, $3 and thinking, what the fudge is this?

There was never one big, obvious bill that caught my attention. It was a bunch of smaller charges that looked random and were easy to overlook.

So I started digging.

And when I say digging, I mean clicking through shortcuts, customer service, memberships and subscriptions, other memberships and subscriptions, and finally manage memberships and subscriptions just to figure out what we were actually paying for.

That is my problem with this.

People should not have to go on a scavenger hunt inside their Amazon account to figure out what they are being charged for.

If I have an active add-on subscription through Amazon, whether it is Paramount+, Noggin, or another service, I should be able to open my account and immediately see exactly what I am subscribed to, how much I am paying, when I am being charged, and how to cancel it.

Amazon should have one clear subscription dashboard that shows every active add-on membership in one place. Each subscription should clearly show the service name, amount, next billing date, and a simple cancellation option.

There should also be a clear notification when a new paid subscription or free trial begins, another reminder before a free trial converts into a paid subscription, and billing descriptions that make these charges easy to distinguish from regular Amazon purchases.

Because $3 here, $5 there, and $15 somewhere else may not immediately set off alarm bells. But when those charges continue month after month, they add up.

Customers should not have to become detectives to understand their own Amazon bill.

I am asking Amazon to make add-on subscription billing easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to manage.

If you have ever looked at your bank account and wondered, “What is this Amazon charge?” only to discover a subscription you forgot about or did not realize was still active, sign this petition.

Amazon, put every subscription and add-on charge in one obvious place and give customers a clear picture of exactly what they are paying for.
