As thousands of people gather for Coachella Weekend 1, the desert heat is already reaching dangerous levels. With record high temperatures expected, water access isn’t just about comfort — it’s about survival.

Currently, Coachella offers free water refill stations, but only for those who bring an empty plastic water bottle. While we understand the need for safety protocols and restrictions on glass or metal containers, this policy limits options in a way that could put people at serious risk. If someone forgets a bottle, loses it in the crowd, or arrives unprepared, they shouldn’t be forced to pay for water — or worse, go without.

We’re calling on Coachella organizers to make all water free for everyone this weekend and next, including bottled water from vendors, and to provide free containers for refill stations or find an alternative that ensures every attendee can safely hydrate, no matter what they brought with them.

Heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even death are real risks in these conditions. No one should suffer or face a medical emergency because they didn’t have the right kind of bottle. Please take immediate action to protect your guests.
