Hi Super Supporters!

Last Wednesday I met with decision maker Sainsbury’s. I went to their London head office to deliver the petition and meet their representatives to discuss the campaign. They are the first supermarket to meet me.

In October 2018 we took focused action on Sainsbury’s, which led to the supermarket making eco-friendly tampons, pads and reusable cups available in stores nationwide. The campaign has also resulted in them stopping the production of their own-brand plastic tampon applicators in August.

In the meeting I raised your concerns and questions, talked about the unnecessary plastic content in their own-brand products, the avoidable impacts and why they need to bring about change.

Sainsbury’s representatives were keen to hear more about the campaign and listened to everything I had to say. They responded positively and took my suggestions and concerns on board. They openly discussed the changes they are looking to make, which I can’t share at this time.

They have committed to an open dialogue and will keep me informed when these changes take place and I will of course keep you updated when any news comes in.

Further campaign news: I'm delighted to announce that the campaign has been shortlisted for a Surfer’s Against Sewage Plastic-Free Award for Best Plastic Campaign!

Thank you for all your continued support!

Ella :)
