Hi Super supporters!

Yesterday was a big day for the campaign, I met with decision maker Procter & Gamble, owners of Tampax and Always, the biggest period brands in the UK, if not globally.

I went to their Weybridge Headquarters and met with three of their Northern Europe representatives; Head of Company Communications, Scientific Manager and the Communications Baby & Feminine Care as well as an impartial minute and note taker.

The meeting lasted two hours. After introductions I gave a 20-minute presentation on the campaign. This covered how and why it started, the overwhelming response and media coverage, the environmental impacts of period products, how the plastic content is unnecessary and why change must happen. I highlighted how the campaign has gained 83K signatures in the last 8 weeks, showing that the awareness of this issue is rising, and that it will only get bigger.

The three representatives then gave individual presentations and then there was an hour’s discussion covering various subjects. I put forward concerns raised by the supporters of the campaign and actively asked questions and suggested changes that they should make to their products.

None of the representatives were in a position to make decisions or tell me about future plans. However, my suggestions and points of concern have been taken forward and will be passed on to more senior managers and the product development and research teams. They accepted the petition and are going to actively look through the comments and suggestions you have made, and these will also be passed on.

This meeting has resulted in a commitment to an open dialogue between Procter and Gamble and our campaign!

I want to thank you all for your constant support with this and the actions you continue to take on the campaign’s behalf. Without this support, I wouldn’t have had the chance to meet Procter & Gamble.

Thank you again for your continued support, I will update when more news comes in.

Ella :)
