Hi everyone!!

Wow, so over the last 48 hours the campaign has gone viral again and has gained over 50K signatures, reaching new heights, hitting over 160,000 supporters and is still growing rapidly!

Thank you so much to everyone who has signed, this is absolutely fantastic and makes it clear just how important this issue is to all of us, raises awareness and conversations and puts even more pressure on decision makers to do something about the unnecessary plastic in their period products with the growing number of us demanding change!

For a bit of background for those who have newly signed, last year we called upon Tesco and Sainsbury’s to take responsibility by removing plastic from their period care and to make eco-friendly options available in-store, whilst making these changes. Our actions paid off. Both supermarkets responded by stocking a range of eco-friendly period care, including reusable cups, nationwide.

Stepping things up in the new year, we took action on Lil-Lets, which led to a demonstration outside their headquarters in January. In February we took action on Procter & Gamble who own Tampax and Always, arguably the biggest brands in the period industry, calling on them to stop manufacturing pointless plastic applicators and to end period plastic in Tampax and Always, which has resulted in an upcoming meeting with them to discuss the campaign and the issue of period plastic!

Last Monday I announced action on Morrisons, which calls on them to make change happen by going plastic-free. Morrisons are currently the only supermarket in the ‘big four’ that don’t stock plastic-free or reusable options, which is why we are also calling on them to make eco-friendly options available to customers in their stores whilst they make changes to their own-brand products! For everyone who has newly signed it would be fantastic if you could take action with us by tweeting and emailing them!

Thank you so much to everyone for their support, together we really can make a difference!

Ella :)
