Hello Brilliant Supporters and Happy World Oceans Day!
This week also marked World Environment Day and One Plastic Free Day on Tuesday 5th June. Did you take part in this - and if so what single-use plastic did you pass on?
Yesterday I had the wonderful opportunity of being invited to speak by Wuka at their first ever Red Wave Event! It was brilliant to be part of a panel of nine discussing menstruation for menstrual hygiene day which was on the 28th May. I spoke about the story behind why I started this petition and why it is crucial that organisations and supermarkets alike #endperiodplastic!
The petition has also been featured in an article called Periods and the Planet on the Ecologist's website so please take a look: https://theecologist.org/2018/jun/01/periods-and-planet-revolution-eco-friendly-menstrual-products-writes-julia-minnear
Since so many are posting their beach clean/single-use plastic finds on social media. I thought it would be great to get a wide range of images together of period plastic that people have found; whether it be in a stream, birds nest or on a beach. This way we can see some of the places that these products are ending up! If you would like to do this please send your images to: ispyperiodplastic@hotmail.com
In the talk I also mentioned 'With so many wonderful words of encouragement from supporters and organisations alike I could not have hoped for a better response' - this is so true and thank you all for your continued support!
We can make a massive difference if we do this together, so let's do this! Let's #endperiodplastic!
Ella
