Make All Jumpstart Cards in Magic the Gathering Standard, Pioneer, and Modern Legal
The Issue
I, along with many other passionate players of Magic the Gathering, argue that the stipulation of Jumpstart cards as merely a subcategory of a Commander Precon is overstated. The very substance of the cards within Jumpstart sets is tied directly with the cards of a Standard-legal set. It is unequivocally inconsistent to proclaim that selected cards bear the standard legality whilst the others, released under the exact same thematic sequence, do not.
As a committed player of Magic the Gathering, this discrepancy not only affects me, but a multitude of new and prospective players. The beauty of Jumpstart packs lies within their designed simplicity. They are masterfully created to swiftly immerse fresh players into the vibrant landscape of the game. However, the non-sequitur legality of Jumpstart cards disrupts this flow and presents an unnecessary obstacle for new players, thus making their immersion experience more complicated than necessary.
According to Wizards of the Coast's "Simplicity Policy", their mission is to make the game as straightforward and enjoyable for a new player as is strategically possible. But the current status of Jumpstart cards blurs this mission. As such, we implore Wizards of the Coast to make all Jumpstart cards Standard, Pioneer, and Modern legal starting from Jumpstart 25. By doing so, they will respect their very own guidelines and create an even playing field for all Magic the Gathering players, new or seasoned.
