Growing up, I see kids around me increasingly relying on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for schoolwork, substituting genuine learning with quick solutions. This reliance isn't just altering how we learn—it's endangering our planet. AI data centers, the powerhouses behind this technology, consume vast amounts of water and energy, leading to challenges that significantly impact our everyday environments.

For starters, these data centers demand enormous quantities of water to keep their systems cool, contributing to the water shortages already plaguing many places. Regions like Puerto Rico, several parts of Asia, and significant areas in America are battling severe water scarcity or contamination. This isn’t just an inconvenience—it’s a crisis impacting our communities, our ecosystems, and our wildlife.

Moreover, power-hungry data centers contribute to climate change by increasing fossil fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. As AI-powered technology grows, so does its carbon footprint, accelerating climate change and making a terrible situation even worse. Our precious pollinators, like bees, and countless other flora and fauna suffer as a result, disrupting ecosystems and threatening biodiversity.

We have the opportunity and the responsibility to stop these impacts in their tracks. By either making it illegal to build new AI data centers or imposing stringent taxes on them, we can discourage their unchecked expansion and encourage more sustainable technological growth. This action doesn't just protect our local environments—it safeguards our global future. 

in a world that was originally made by using our brains together as one we have dumped it down to the point where kids in classrooms are using AI to help them cheat on test. I see it every day when I was in class. kids, my age are so focused on finishing the assignment rather than understanding it they use AI to help them. some do not understand the severity of what AI does. I understand it. 

AI can help you get to where you need to be without taking the hard road. but AI uses thousands of gallons of water, and only for that water to be used to cool down their systems, this water is interned not eligible for consumption. AI data centers pollute our water, in part of Puerto Rico, some citizens are only allowed one jug or container of water. and that is only for a day. they then go two days without water. this is unacceptable in what world is water scarce? 

Surface Coverage: ~71% water and 29% land (continents and islands).
Saltwater vs. Freshwater: 96.5% is saline ocean water; only 3.5% is fresh water. 

how is it? That 71% of water is scarce… This is not acceptable.
