Make Africa Borderless Now – Unlock Our Future

It’s time to move freely, trade freely, and build the Africa we deserve.

The Problem
For over a century, we’ve been held back by lines drawn by colonial powers. Lines that divided families, disrupted trade, and limited our potential. These borders were never meant for our benefit. Today, they still make it harder for Africans to travel, do business, and connect across the continent.

While the African Union has signed treaties and protocols promising free movement and trade, progress has been slow. For example, only four countries have ratified the Free Movement Protocol by the end of 2025. Air travel remains expensive and disconnected. Cross-border trade is choked by red tape and currency barriers. Our talent, ideas, and energy are trapped within artificial boundaries.

Our Vision

We envision an Africa where:

• You can travel visa-free from Cape to Cairo.
• A dressmaker in DR Congo can sell to a market in Nigeria using mobile money in their local currency.
• A tech startup in Kenya can scale across the continent with ease.
• Our skies are open, making flights cheaper, faster, and more connected.
• Young Africans can study, work, and innovate anywhere in Africa.

A borderless Africa doesn’t erase nations, it empowers them. It creates jobs, boosts manufacturing and agriculture, attracts investment, and reconnects communities long separated by colonial divisions.

Why Now?
The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is already here, but it needs free movement to truly work. Without it, we’re building a continental economy with walls inside it, when others are building higher walls to keep us out of their countries. We cannot wait any longer while our potential is stifled and our youth are held back.

This isn't just about economics. It's about dignity, unity, and reclaiming our future. Colonialism divided us. Today, we choose to unite.

The Call

We call on African leaders, policymakers, and every citizen to:

1. Ratify and implement the Free Movement Protocol now.
2. Accelerate visa-free travel for all Africans.
3. Open our skies and lower the cost of air travel.
4. Enable cross-border digital payments in local currencies.
5. Put people, not borders, at the centre of Africa’s integration.

This movement is by us, for us. It's driven by the energy of young people, entrepreneurs, artists, and innovators who refuse to accept a fragmented continent.
