Make A Better Pacific Rim Movie Sequel

The Issue

It's been over ten years since Pacific Rim debuted as a cinematic blockbuster that pays homage to the Kaiju, the mecha genre, and the anime media. At the time of the theatrical release as a teenager, it became one of the most extraordinary movie experiences I have ever witnessed. Since then, we haven't got enough of the expansion treatment, and we deserve it better than what we have thus far regarding the underwhelming lore and potential for the surviving and returnable characters of the franchise.

Who is under the impact? The big problem started with GDT's Maelstrom, replaced by the existing Uprising movie as the sequel to the flagship after leaving his abandoned work to pursue the 2017 Shape of Water. The failure of the Uprising movie would decline our fan-based community. Part of this was due to the writers diminishing the reprising cast, including the regards of Raleigh Becket.

What is at stake? Since the anime series Pacific Rim: The Black created a better continuity that rather "alternates" the Uprising movie events, there is a chance we can forget about the most recent flop and put the Mecha franchise back on track. So, we are asking Legendary Entertainment to create a better Pacific Rim movie sequel without following up on the existing sophomore installment. More importantly, we need to hire a new director who should follow GDT's original vision and writers who must come up with better storylines involving the unanswered questions of the Kaiju lore before sending off the OG characters.

Suggestions for these Sequels

  • Split the sequel into two featured-length parts to complete a film trilogy involving the reprising likes of Raleigh Beckett (Charlie Hunnam), Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi), Dr. Newt Geiszler (Charlie Day), Herc Hansen (Max Martini), and Hannibal Chau (Ron Pearlman).
  • Start the first sequel part with a prologue by alternating the Uprising events.
  • Explain how the Uprising Wars goes from the start to middle to finish throughout both movies.
  • Consider taking place in the same continuity as The Black series.

Why is now the time to act? We need these sequels for the Pacific Rim to compete against the themed-comparable Transformers. The Hollywood industry has a small history of presenting mecha-manship, meaning the genre features a bond between a giant robot and its human pilot(s). Suppose Legendary Entertainment doesn't consider the Pacific Rim sequel with the production crew making a serious effort to resolve issues from the previous installments in the foreseeable future. In that case, the franchise will dissolve itself and severely decline the popularity interest in the mecha genre from the Western world perspective.

This petition intends to benefit Pacific Rim and mecha-related fans, cast and crew productions, and Guillermo del Toro to get the answers we need revolving around the Kaiju lore of the franchise.
