Hi all,

Last week I had a productive meeting with ANC Rep Carol Grunewald and DDOT Community Engagement Specialist Christian Piñeiro to review our intersection. We are the only Nebraska Ave intersection for the entire 3.3 mile length without a stop sign or signal, all the way from Oregon Ave to Foxhall Road.  All of the other 24 intersections have much safer pedestrian safety measures already implemented.

As part of their larger tour of the neighborhood, I met them at the corner of Nebraska & 31st Street to discuss the safety risks and potential solutions.

Since the meeting, Christian advised that while the location would need to be prioritized by DDOT's Traffic Safety Input (TSI) process, he will investigate what assessment was done that led to the Flashing Pedestrian Beacon installed last year.  I applied to the TSI process in April 2023 and the intersection has yet not been selected in quarterly prioritization. I will continue to continue to advocate and see if we're able to get any DDOT support to prioritize improvements here.

Michelle
