Cooperative Learning is conducted by groups of students with different levels of capability in a subject. During Cooperative Learning, students will make use of their knowledge and of different learning activities to improve the class’ understanding of a certain subject. Students will not only learn helpful lessons but they will also help others to learn which is a way of improving their teamwork and interpersonal skills.

Authorities of the Makati Science High School removed the subject Cooperative Learning last June 2014. A reason for this action, is to lessen the school hours. Section IV of the Student Handbook entails Peer Counseling as a part of the Mandated Thrusts, Programs, and Activities of the Supreme Student Government. According to the DepEd Order 34, series of 2008, compliance with the order is obliged, and implementing this will establish the unity and cooperation of students.

We, as students of Makati Science High School, are petitioning this because the students of the said school would greatly benefit from the implementation of the Cooperative Learning subject. Cooperative learning would help in building positive relationships among students which is important in creating a learning community that values diversity. The students will foster an environment of cooperation and growth for everyone’s academic excellence.
