During the Mets-Dodgers NLDS Game 2, Chase Utley (LAD) purposely dove into Ruben Tejada's (NYM) leg. This slide seriously injured Ruben as he has been carried off the field in a stretcher and has FRACTURED his right fibula. He will be out for the rest of the season. Some players are applauding him for "hard-nose baseball", while Hall of Famers and All-Stars like Pedro Martinez are furious. Any fan of baseball is in a riot right now as they know this wasn't not a slide it was a straight up takeout of Tejeda. Utley is known as a player who would do this as he has had MANY altercations in the past of the same thing. MLB is this a way to teach young players, little leaguers on how the game is played. I wonder how parents think about this play and their kids playing. MLB you already have a rule to remove catcher interference why is this OK? MLB, based on what I stated and what the majority of fans say, please strongly consider suspending Utley. @
@JUST_JUP: "If that was a superstar shortstop we would have a Tulo Rule being enforced tomorrow" - Padres Star Outfielder Justin Upton
@45PedroMartinez: "If you tell Utley to teach kids to slide on second base? Would he teach them the way he slided tonight?"
@45PedroMartinez: It bothered me to see Utley's slide and the way he went after Tejada. "Being a 2nd base man he needed to think how to break the DP not his leg" - Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez
@JonHeymanCBS: "cant fault the ump. but, with time now, can fault utley. slide was late, high, reckless. he should be suspended." - Jon Heyman Insider at MLB network
