The Issue

Reference this USATODAY Story about Hank T. Dog being adopted by the Milwaukee Brewers, http://ftw.usatoday.com/2014/02/hank-stray-dog-milwaukee-brewers-spring-training-photos/.

During this year's 2014 Winter Olympics, there was much publicity for a U.S. Athlete adopting local stray dogs in Sochi, Russia.

I love the story about Hank T. Dog.  We had a similar dog who was found roaming the streets of Dallas, and we adopted him. He was a Westie Mix and he lived with us for about 14 years.

If Major League Baseball  can follow the Milwaukee Brewer's lead of adopting a logcal stray dog in their community, it would be a great public awareness campain to help the plight of adopting the stray dogs and cats in our local communites.  Raise awareness of the need to steralize our pets and to take care of them.  Raise the cause of those  who were abused.

This campaign could be helping the local SPCA's and local no-kill animal shelters.

I think this could be a win-win for all parties involved  and a human interest story.

Have each local Major League Team adopt a local dog.  Maybe a certain popular breed for that area.   Maybe have each team select their top 3 dogs and have the fans vote on a local site or at their local ballpark.

I think it would be fun to see a Local Texas Rangers Mascot Dog in a Texas Rangers Jersey when they visit another city and meet their local Mascot Dog.

Just a feel good story, initiative that would help bring more awareness to adopting stray animals as pets.
