Major has been STOLEN: Help Bring him back HOME
The Issue
OUR STORY
We noticed Major had gone missing June 11, which was strange but not entirely uncommon since his favorite hiding spot is in our backyard bushes. But when we began checking all his hiding spots to no avail, we began getting worried.
On Monday June 13, whille knocking on doors searching for our ferret, our neighbors hadalerted us that someone nearby had found our ferret and many commenters reccomended that he be turned into the animall shelter. We called our local police to confirm his arrival to the animal shelter where they said yes, so we stopped knocking and planned to pickhim up Tuesday Jun 14 when it opens.
On tuesday when calling to once again confirm Major's arrival to the shelter, I was alerted that Major was actually never recieved. Later that day when we finally found out that the author of the post was or next door neighbor who we didnt reach yet, we were told Major was given to a friend who gave him to be "rehomed" to someone in South Carolina.
In our search for Major our neighbors have given us a small amount of insight and the friend has been combative and has repeatedly refused to give me the contact information of the people who have Major and have threatened to report me for harrasment twice.
PLEASE HELP US!!
Because pet theft is not seen as a criminal offence, there is not much the police are willing/able to do. Our goal is to make Major's story as public as possible so if by any chance we cannot find him, maybe we can be one step closer to making pet theft a criminal offense to stop any more families from feeling this way.
