Maintain Consistent School Transportation for Our Children

Maintain Consistent School Transportation for Our Children
The Issue
As a parent and concerned citizen, school transportation for my children is not simply a convenience but an essential necessity. This issue affects many more parents and children, especially those who, like myself, balance work and family life.
Our school has consistently provided transportation for our children, ensuring they arrive at their place of learning safely and on time. However, this valuable service is under threat. This proposed change would significantly disrupt the daily routines of many families and could compromise the safety and access to education of our children.
The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, Article 28, states that every child has the right to an education. It is critical to note that access to education not only involves admission to a school but also the ability to get to and from that school safely.
By denying transportation, we inhibit the ability of children to attend school regularly and put unnecessary stress on working parents, who may have to alter their employment situation to accommodate this change. This could lead to decreased productivity and adversely affect the economy in our community down the line.
Let's come together to protect the rights of our children to a safe, accessible education and the rights of parents to a stable work-life balance. I urge you to reconsider the proposed changes and continue providing transportation to and from school. Please, add your voice by signing this petition.
