Maintain Congestion Pricing Without Raising Toll Fees for the Next Decade

The Issue

I, the petitioner, passionately advocate for less traffic and safer streets in our city. For years, I have seen first-hand the benefits of congestion pricing - it provides an incentive for drivers to use public transport, carpool, or travel during less busy times. As a result, it has contributed significantly to reducing traffic, enhancing the safety of streets for pedestrians, cyclists, and other commuters. According to studies, congestion pricing has the potential to decrease traffic congestion by as much as 29% (Source: The American Prospect). However, the accompanied burden of rising toll fees is an added financial stress on everyday citizens.

We urge the city's Department of Transportation to maintain congestion pricing, but to freeze the increase in toll charges for a duration of 10 years. This would continue encouraging people to think about their driving habits, while alleviating the financial burden on those who have no other feasible means of commuting.

By signing this petition, we can show our city that we want safer streets and less traffic but without the escalating expense of toll charges. Please, lend your voice to this cause and sign this petition today.
