The Problem

Pokemon Go Community Day is about the community, it's about coming together once a month, and enjoying the company of the people you see at the raids, meeting entirely new people and finding new groups to go raiding with, finding a trading partner to get that elusive pokemon that will finish rounding out your Battle Party.

All together that means that Community Day is about bringing the local community together. And these events take planning to be the best they can be. that becomes very difficult if we don't have a venue to meet at, and announcing Community Day 2 and a half weeks before the date means that all of the reserve-able venues at most parks are already booked. This problem is getting worse as we get into the summer months. 

The other issue is that with such short notice, many working players are unable to fit Community Day into their schedule. If we had an entire year of Community Day dates we could save the date in our schedules to make sure we don't ever miss one. Instead us hourly employees have to beg our coworkers to take our shift if we want to attend these short notice events, we could just reserve that spot in our schedule months in advance.

The Solution

Release the dates for Community Day events a year in advance, And keep updating the schedule far enough in advance so that we can keep the ball rolling on planning events into the foreseeable future. We know it's possible, as Niantic's Ingress has their schedule planned well over a year in advance. The community organizers and event planners that make Community Day happen at the grassroots level need time to plan, to find a venue that can hold the local community and raise the funds to pay all the fees associated with renting it, to make their handmade prizes to give away, to get the word out of where and when we're meeting so no one gets left out because they didn't know it was happening until it was too late. We don't need to know who the special Pokemon is or what buffs and bonuses we're getting ahead of time. You can still hype it up with that news, we just need to know ahead of time what day they will be on. 

What this petition is asking for, specifically. 

At the time of writing we're already well into 2019, so start off by releasing the rest of 2019's schedule for community day, then when we're in the second half of the year (October at the latest) release the entire 2020 schedule. Repeat each year.
