The Issue

I am reaching out as a proud member of this small but fiercely loyal community—a community that has stood behind the Chaparral High School Lobos football team through every heartbreak, every disappointment, and every small victory that kept our hope alive. For years, our boys fought uphill battles. We were known as the team that struggled, the team that couldn’t quite get there, and because of that, we were moved down to 4A. It wasn’t an insult—it was a chance. A chance to rebuild. A chance to breathe again.

And what a transformation it has been.

In these last few seasons, we have watched something extraordinary happen. We’ve seen our boys rise. We’ve seen coaches pour their hearts into rebuilding our program. We’ve seen our athletes stay late, show up early, push harder, and refuse to give up. We’ve heard the roar of a crowd that finally gets to cheer—not out of obligation, but out of genuine pride. The Lobos have become living proof that when a community comes together, miracles can happen.

But now, just as we’re finally finding our footing and building something special, there is a proposal to move us up to 5A. This change would force our team—our kids—into a division against bigger, stronger, and far more resource-rich schools. It threatens to erase the progress our athletes have fought so hard for. It risks breaking the momentum, the spirit, and the confidence they’ve worked years to build.

This isn’t just about football. It’s about giving these young men a fair chance to continue growing. It’s about protecting a program that has finally found its heartbeat. It’s about honoring every early morning practice, every late-night bus ride, every moment these boys believed in themselves even when the world didn’t.

Keeping Chaparral High School Lobos Football in 4A isn’t holding us back—it’s allowing us to keep moving forward. It’s allowing our kids to continue striving, improving, and proving that their success is real and earned.

We are asking—no, we are pleading—with decision-makers to look at the heart of this team and the heart of this community. Don’t take away the foundation we’ve fought so hard to build. Let our boys keep climbing at a pace that honors their journey, their effort, and their dreams.

Please join us in signing this petition to keep our Chaparral High School Lobos in 4A. Together, we can protect their progress, support their future, and show these young athletes that their community stands firmly behind them—now and always.
