The Issue

As a member of Aroostook County and someone that lives surrounded by 2000 acres of Irving Woodlands, I am extremely discomforted knowing that Irving timber, who owns over a million acres of Maine land, is aerial spraying the forest with a chemical known as Glyphosate in order to control vegetation growth. This chemical has been shown with numerous studies and lawsuits to have direct consequences to our environment and our health! It leaches into our rivers, lakes, and wells. Animals eat vegetation coated with this chemical and have adverse effects. Lots of these animals and vegetation end up on our plates too! We deserve the right to clean water and clean forests! We also did not have a chance to vote whether or not we wanted such disgusting chemicals sprayed down upon us. This chemical will effect all people of Maine and should be removed from practice IMMEDIATELY.

WE THE PEOPLE DEMAND SAFE PRACTICE OF HERBICIDES AND PESTICIDES. WE WILL NOT SIT BACK AND LET CORPORATE ENTITIES THROW ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH TO THE WAIST SIDE.

Our state representatives need to take action against Irving Woods and other corporations who are spraying massive amounts of Maine land with chemicals known to cause adverse and severe damage to life.

The goal of this petition is to raise awareness to the gravity of Glyphosate and save our beloved Maine forests from being tainted with poison!
