Mahsa Amini Deserved to Live a Long Life
The Issue
Mahsa Amini was a 22 year old, "shy, reserved resident of a small town who never challenged the country's clerical rulers or its Islamic dress code, sources close to the family said." (By REUTERS Published: SEPTEMBER 28, 2022)
She was visiting her Uncle in Tehran and was brutalized by the "morality police" for improper dress code. Three days later, she died. This lovely, sweet child was robbed of her dreams. I cannot imagine the pain and anguish her parents must feel.
Now is the time to step forward and help the people of Iran, as they fight for the rights of all of their children!
Please help. Please write President Biden, and any local Leaders that you feel might help.
The letter Below should go to the POTUS and your leaders.
We are writing to urge you and the U.S. government to take a principled stand against the regime in Tehran for its brutal suppression of the Iranian people in their renewed uprising for human dignity, freedom and democracy.
The nationwide uprising of Iranians illustrate the explosive condition of the country and the demand of a large majority of Iranians for the norms of democratic governance.
The overwhelming support for the demonstrations by Iranians living in exile, including an estimated 90,000 near Paris in June, echoed what was happening within the country.
Iranians spoke loudly and clearly again when they poured into the streets in Tehran and all major cities across the country over the past few days to show the world that they are ready to risk their lives to bring about democratic change in Iran. We Americans must not close our eyes to their plight and their determination to have their voices heard. As a leader, we urge our government to affirm its support now.
We urge our government to impose Sanctions directed against the mullah. Financial sanction of government allies who have property or have family outside of Iran would help the plight of the Iranian citizens - akin to the same limitations placed on Putin and his oligarchs in Russia. Freezing their bank accounts and those of their allies is imperative.
In addition, we ask that you help arm the resistance. Those young men and women who are risking their lives to seek basic human rights need help.
We urge support for the struggling Iranian people. We protect the United States best when we defend internationally its cornerstone values, including the rule of law and human dignity. These are the same values Iranians are seeking.
Thank you very much,
Citizens seeking Justice for Mahsa
