Save Tiger's and Wildlife.Conserve Sahayadri Forest from Mining,Irrigation Projects.
The Issue
In October 2019,the Central Government had published a list of eco sensitive total 116 villages from Sindhudurg(86) & Kolhapur(30) and 52 villages from MIDC Industrial area and asked the State Government to register objections if any.
Recently the State Government of Maharashtra sent a proposal to Central Government to exclude some villages from Sindhudurg and Kolhapur Districts of Maharashtra State for the purpose of Mining, Irrigation & Industrial Projects which are in the eco sensitive areas of Western Ghats of Sahayadri Forest. As against the list of 168 villages it was revealed by Mumbai Tarun Bharat Newspaper on 21/06/2020 that a total of 388 villages from these two Districts are proposed to be dropped by the State Government after a meeting with State Forest Minister.
Although no mining has been started in many villages in the list provided by the State Government they have mentioned active mining activities in the villages where there have been only proposals for Mining.
Also a Dam proposal which was rejected by Central Wildlife Board in the vicinity of Radhanagari Wildlife Sanctuary was again proposed under a Irrigation project.
- Now if these villages are excluded by the Central Government, the State Government will have a free hand in carrying and selling these projects.
- This will tottaly disturb the Tiger & Wildlife habitat and destroy the Forest and make great impact on the Environment.
- If a petition is raised against the above mentioned issue, number of Non Human lifes of innocent Animals will be saved and also Mother Nature will be saved from destruction.
