Magistrate Court of Fulton County in Crisis Mode - We Need Your Help!

The Issue

The Magistrate Court of Fulton County is in a state of crisis!

We need YOUR HELP to advocate for change!

Problems We Are Facing:

Problem #1: Budgetary priorities determined and funded by the Board of Commissioners, including an ending to critical ORCA funding, have impacted the rate at which we can hear criminal and civil cases.

Problem #2: Due to said budgetary constraints and underfunding, we are severely understaffed. We cannot hire the critical staff members needed to hear cases at the rate we know our community deserves.

Effects On YOU Our Community Members, Business Leaders, & Stakeholders: 

Delays in case scheduling, delays in administrative processing, can delay officers at electronic warrants, case backlogs, and unintended impacts to the service and support your Magistrate Court of Fulton County provides.

How YOU Can Help:

  1. Watch our recent news segment to fully educate yourself on our issues & how it affects you!
  2. Read the AJC's article on the facts about the Magistrate budget crisis. 
  3. Call or Email the Board of Commissioners for Fulton County and advocate for a budget increase for the Magistrate Court of Fulton County.
  4. Sign this petition & share it with anyone who is a resident of and/or business or civic leader in Fulton County.
  5. Attend the next Board of Commissioners Meeting (click for schedule) and speak about the budgeting issue during the "Public Comment" segment.
