The Madison Metropolitan School District has been violating employee and students rights of free speech guaranteed by the US Constitution and several people, like Marlon Anderson, have lost employment because of their use of language that the School Board finds offensive in some circumstances. Unfortunately, the US Constitution First Amendment guarantees freedom of speech and does not allow a contextual or circumstantial interpretation of the use of language. This petition demands the reinstatement of Marlon Anderson to his position immediately and requires lost pay and any attorney fees. The petition also demands that all cases similar to this employee's during the last 24 months are immediately reopened, the employees restored to employment and made whole with back pay and any benefit related expenses as well as contributions to employee retirement system as required by school benefit policies. The Madison School District must denounce their continued abridgment of free speech and be held accountable for violating the guaranteed right of free speech in order to terminate employees.
