Save The Great Tree

Save The Great Tree

The Issue

In 1948 Rich's Department store in Atlanta Georgia gave a Christmas gift to the citezens of Atlanta.  They placed a 70ft tall Eastern White Pine tree atop the flagship store on Forsyth St..  It was adorned with huindreds of lights and ornaments.  It was lite on Thanksgiving night and thus an Atlanta tradition was born.  The tree has been moved twice since the closing of the Rich's building down town, and now exist at the Macy's Lenox Square Mall location.  For 64 years the tree has been on top of a building and was selected from family homes in Georgia.  This year Macy's has decided to change the tradition and use a "Fake" tree and locate it in the parking lot of the mall.  We do not want to loose this tradtion, and want to keep the tree real, and placed up high so everyone can see its glory.  We loose so many other tradtions these days, but we need to fight for the ones that have been with us for this long.
