Thank you all for signing, sharing and promoting this petition. We now have over 2,200 signatures and it’s only been a week! Thank you as well for sharing your own experience, which just proves that the stories in the video are not isolated cases. Here are some of those posted in the last week only… Kept in unsuitable conditions in the stores: My rabbit Hercules was rescued from their adoption section after being left with other unneutered boys and obtaining several injuries. I am fed up with asking in my local store for bowls of water to be provided for the rabbits! I have seen rabbits in Pets At Home WAY too young to be away from mum, in awful conditions and regularly see them without any hay. Sold to wrong homes: The original owner of my rabbit advertised him for sale on gumtree a few weeks after buying him (and hutch) from Pets at Home for his daughter. Wrong advice provided: I know of a rabbit sold to a 17 year-old as a present for her boyfriend with unsuitable guinea pig cage…with no questions asked or advice given. I was sold a 100cm cage for him and assured it was totally suitable. I’ve watched on numerous occasions staff not giving correct advice and certainly not asking questions to people who buy them Sold sick / untreated: I know someone who purchased a rabbit which quickly become sick. She took it to the PAH vets and they made excuses as to why it was sold with no health checks. They sold my nieces step child a rabbit which had Myxomatosis - it died the next day. I have purchased rabbits from pets at home and within 5 days they had both died. I bought a rabbit from pets at home who was sick when they sold him to us - they didn’t notice or check beforehand. I have been through this with a pets at home bunny who was constantly ill and eventually had to be put to sleep. I once bought a rabbit from PAH, she had pasteurella. Constant colds and chest infections. I kept her happy and comfortable for 4 years, then had her PTS because of pneumonia from the virus. I got a rabbit at pets at home and she was very sick and was only 12 weeks old. My rabbit from pets at home was over bred and had dental problems for years which I spent thousand on to give him the best quality of life possible. I bought my first rabbit from pets at home at 8 weeks old. After a few weeks of having him I noticed his teeth had grown so much! I took him to the vet and they said it’s because he had been bred poorly his teeth didn’t line up. I adopted a rabbit from pets at home and was absolutely disgusted in the state of his health. He hadn't been groomed or cleaned he was full of faeces and had a terrible sniffle/cold. Mis-sexed: TWICE I have bought rabbits and twice they've sexed my buns wrong! No questions were asked re. my circumstances and experience on owning rabbits. Got 2 rabbits from P@H...were told they were girls, one wasn't, had 4 babies. I’ve been mis-sold wrong sex pet from pets at home resulting in a pregnancy and then the death of the mother 10 days later!!! Contacted the store to be told “it happens” Impact on rescue centres: I volunteer at a rescue centre and have lost count of the number of times baby bunnies have been dumped there because P@H wrongly sexed the parents! I run a rabbit rescue and the majority of the rabbits we take in have originated from Pets at Home. I help at a rescue and most come from people buying on a whim from Pets at Home. ... Please keep sharing and urging Pets at Home to STOP selling rabbits! Rabbits are suffering and it is NOT acceptable! Thank you for speaking up for those who can’t.
