Lyme's sufferers need help in Utah

The Issue

I am dying from Lyme Disease because I live in Utah. Also hundreds, if not thousands of Utah patients are being turned away from Lyme Disease Treatment because of antiquated blood test procedures and pressure from the Utah Medical Association (http://www.utahmed.org) and the insurance companies (Intermountain Health Care - http://intermountainhealthcare.org). We believe they are in collusion in not treating Lyme Disease because of the cost to treat patients.

Lyme Disease has cost me 4 years of my life with countless visits to doctors, specialists, hospital stays and surgical procedures to treat MY symptoms (others have similar and different symptoms). Lyme is alive and doing well in Utah, and in my body! So far it's attacked my digestive tract (including removal of my appendix and gall bladder and chronic irritable bowel disease), caused severe joint pain, caused seizures so severe that I broke my back and dislocated both shoulders, and caused neurological problems including stroke-like paralysis, migraine, major depression and panic attacks. I CONTRACTED IT IN UTAH! Most likely from a spider bite(s) near the Jordan river in North Lehi, Utah.

Doctors in Utah are taught and trained to believe that it doesn't exist in Utah, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. As if an infectious disease knows (and respects) state boundaries! Please look into the Utah Lyme Disease Alliance on Facebook for more information.

Lyme Disease is known as 'The Great Imitator". This is just my story, others have had it so long it has developed into some of the following: Alzheimers' Disease, Anorexia, Arthritis, Ataxia, Autism, Many Autoimmune disorders, Bipolar, Brain Fog, Vision Loss, Cardiomyopathy, Tinnitus, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Cognitive Dysfunction, Continual infections like MRSA, Demyelinating Disorders, Encephalitis, Facial Paralysis, Fibromyalgia, Hair Loss, Headache including Migraine, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Severe Muscle Pain, Panic Disorders, Rueumatoid Arthritis, Sleeping Disorders, Thyroid Disease, Stress Intolerance, Tremor, and more.

Recently it has been found to be transmitted via Breast Feeding, Mosquito and Spider Bites. Not solely in the Deer Tick.

Please help us change the Lyme Disease problem in Utah, and fight the ignorance of the Utah Medical Association and the insurance companies pulling their strings.

Please state why you are signing if you have any link to this insidious and epidemic disease. The more information, the better!

Thank You!

I'm not sure why the Utah Medical Association has been targeted in this petition. Our organization has absolutely nothing to do with medical protocols or in advocating either for or against specific treatments or diseases. Why on earth would the Medical Association want to stop physicians from treating any sick patient, when that is how doctors get paid, by diagnosing disease and treating patients. The cost of treating patients is not generally bourne by the doctors unless the patient is uninsured, makes too much to qualify for Medicaid, and fails to pay the bill. You need to look elsewhere for the bad guy in this scenario.
