Hi all
Here’s a quick update on our fight to get Enhertu licensed for NSCLC HER2 patients.
Tonight our local MP Saqib Bhatti presented our petition in the House of Commons to get Enhertu approved/licensed by NICE for the treatment NSCLC HER2.
Next step we believe is it goes to the select committee.
Hopefully someone in NICE will listen and do the right thing by getting this life saving drug to patients now and not when it’s too late.
We also found out this week from NICE through the Freedom of information act that back in June Daiichii Sankyo (the pharmaceutical company who manufactures the drug)requested to NICE that the appraisal process of Enhertu was stopped and postponed of another year. Allegedly the reason they gave was that this would allow them to make a suitably comprehensive and robust submission to NICE.
Enhertu study date started in March 2021 and the primary completion date was December 2022 so why they need more time is beyond us.
It seems strange to us that the appraisal/licensing of Enhertu was in full flow and now the pharmaceutical company wants to stop it getting to cancer patients who so desperately need it now. However they are very happy to take our money every 3 weeks.
We believe that because Elaine is in under 3% in the county that have NSCLC HER2 NICE are not interested and in no rush in getting the drug to this very small minority of cancer patients any time soon.We also believe the pharmaceutical company doesn’t give a damn because with such a small minority they won’t be making as much money.
We are now holding a raffle to raise more funds to enable us to continue to pay for Elaines treatment.
