As of April 2013, Lufthansa German Airlines will be the only European or American airline still offering service to Tehran.  In the past few years, the world community has made a conscious attempt to blockade Iran's path to becoming a nuclear power.  The United Nations, European Union, United States, and many other countries have all instituted crippling sanctions on Iran in an effort to compel Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to stop enriching Uranium to weapons grade.  The sanctions have been partially successful; the Iranian economy is crumbling.  Complete success, though, has not yet been attained; Iran has not stopped enriching uranium.  If Lufthansa terminates all commercial flights to Tehran, thus making business travel to Iran incredibly difficult, the Iranian economy will be even further stifled.  This move could be the straw that breaks Iran’s back.  To continue enriching Uranium under such horrible economic conditions would be unthinkable.

Action must be taken quickly to preclude Iran from becoming a nuclear power.  Current estimates predict that Iran will have a nuclear weapon by mid-2014.  Who knows what sort of havoc the Iranian regime will wreak with an arsenal of nuclear warheads? If President Ahmadinejad's deriding comments regarding America and the West, and his guarantees to "annihilate" Israel, "wipe it off the map," and “erase it from the pages of history” are any indication of his future plans, then Iran must be stopped at all costs.  Therefore, in an effort to further cripple the Iranian economy and halt the Iranian nuclear program, Lufthansa German Airlines must cease all commercial flights to Tehran.  Does Lufthansa really wish to be known as an airline which supports the Iranian regime and its quest to become a menacing and destructive nuclear power? Additionally, is it proper for Lufthansa, the flag carrier of Germany, to continue to provide economic solace to a country whose leader repeatedly denies the Holocaust (calling it "a lie based on a mythical claim”) and continues to call for and guarantee the annihilation of the State of Israel?
