Lufthansa’s new policy prohibiting pets in cabin

The Issue

Dear Lufthansa Airlines Customer Service,

I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with Lufthansa’s recent policy change regarding pets in the cabin for flights between Europe and the USA. As a regular customer who frequently travels with my pet, I find this change highly inconvenient and unnecessary.

The new policy contradicts the recent CDC regulations, which do not prohibit pets from traveling in the cabin. Instead, the CDC requires pet owners to provide a specific form available on their website, along with the previously existing requirements for pet travel. These additional measures ensure the safety and health of all passengers without banning pets from the cabin.

This policy change is causing significant inconvenience and distress to pet owners who rely on the option of having their pets travel with them in the cabin. It also seems to be an overreaction that does not align with the actual guidelines provided by the CDC.

I kindly urge Lufthansa to reconsider this policy change and allow pets to travel in the cabin, provided that pet owners comply with the CDC’s requirements. This adjustment will not only align Lufthansa’s policies with official regulations but also improve the travel experience for many of your loyal customers.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response and hope for a favorable resolution.

Sincerely,

Angela Buttrey
