Petition in Support of FOP President Brian Steel

We, the undersigned, proudly stand in support of FOP Capital City Lodge 9 President Brian Steel and thank him for his unwavering dedication, courageous leadership, and decades of selfless public service to both law enforcement professionals and the communities they serve.

Brian Steel is a proud United States Marine Corps veteran who has devoted his life to service. He has earned multiple degrees and certifications in criminal justice, business, public administration, and Black studies, demonstrating his commitment to education, leadership, and understanding the diverse communities he represents.

As a 25-year law enforcement veteran, Brian has spent decades serving some of Columbus’ most challenged communities, including communities of color, while working tirelessly to build relationships, improve public safety, and advocate for fairness and accountability. His membership in the NAACP and ACLU reflects his commitment to fighting for civil rights, inclusion, dialogue, and community engagement.

Today, as President of the largest police union in Ohio, Brian Steel represents and advocates for police officers and deputies serving a county of more than 1.2 million residents. He has never been afraid to speak up for those who put their lives on the line every single day to protect others. Whether defending due process, supporting injured officers, or standing with families during tragedy, Brian has consistently demonstrated integrity, courage, and loyalty.

Leadership often comes with criticism, especially when standing firm in defense of others. But we want it clearly known that countless citizens, officers, deputies, families, and community members appreciate and support Brian Steel for the sacrifices he makes on behalf of others.
