Move all classes at LSUS online for Fall 2020

Move all classes at LSUS online for Fall 2020
The Issue
On August 24th, students are scheduled to return to the LSU Shreveport (LSUS) campus to attend face to face classes. LSUS has a significant number of older, immune-compromised, and generally very concerned students, faculty, and staff, whose health and safety are now entirely dependent upon a plan that was developed by a small team of administrators who have no medical training or expertise. People who arrive on campus will be entirely dependent upon the flawless execution of a highly flawed plan, depending on the commitment of others to properly wash their hands, wear their masks, and guarantee the cleanliness of the classrooms, offices, and facilities, none of which LSUS has the ability to control completely. The only alternative currently in place is for students to show up for “hybrid“ courses or else delay their graduation. Most worrisome is that there is no virus testing program in place on the campus, only daily temperature checks, which science has shown are both unreliable and ineffective. This is a very dangerous and unacceptable plan that will result in serious illness and the loss of life. We demand that LSUS face reality, put our health and safety first, above all else, and move all classes online for Fall 2020.
