Pomping for Homecoming Week at LSU has been a long standing tradition, yet people often ignore the fact that it wastes thousands of pounds of paper and also thousands of dollars, that can be put to a better cause. Sorority members spend hours on end rolling balls of paper, to then glue them to a piece of wood. The final products are displayed for one day and then are thrown in the trash. Now more than ever, our planet faces irreversible problems with waste. Pomping only propagates the idea that being wasteful is acceptable. Let's put an end to the waste of resources, money, and time, and put an end to pomping at LSU.
