Due to inclement weather, the Lee's Summit LSR7 school district made the decision to cancel classes Monday, December 16th, and Tuesday, December 17th. This decision was made in regards to the safety of LSR7 students and faculty on the grounds that the roads presented an apparent hazard to anyone making the commute to their respective facilities. While this decision is in no way in question and is supported by the members of our community, it is imperative that we must adapt for the days ahead. The finals schedule has been reformed to fit within the final three days Lee's Summit students will be in attendance, however, in the interest of fairly assessing the students' retention of class-specific information and their preparation, it is imperative that we request the Lee's Summit LSR7 school district to acclimate based on our current situation. Observing the changes many Missouri schools have made under similar circumstances (i.e. Timberland High School, etc.), we, the community, ask that the manner in which finals are conducted accommodate for these circumstances and are implemented in such a manner that will not negatively affect students' grades in a substantially negative way out of respect for the considerable effort students and faculty have put forth on their journey towards academic success.
